Taylor's TidbitsWinds of Change - Weis Stepping UpThu, 2/21/08 Hey there Irish Fans! Thanks for all your concern and questions regarding my health, whereabouts and eligibility (alas, I have none remaining – as a player or as a bachelor). I’ve received a lot of emails lately wondering where I’ve been, what I’ve been doing and whether or not Legends of South Bend is really going to be a “year-round” site. Well sports fans, rest assured. Not only is Legends of South Bend going to be a year-round site, but it’s going to be even bigger and better than it was last year. And to that end, we’ve been spending more time behind the scenes lately than Britney Spears’ PR team. OK, maybe not that much time. But we’ve been pretty busy. Which is why you haven’t seen much writing from me lately. I’ve been scrambling, scheming and planning in the shadows … working on forming strategic partnerships, finding sponsorship and getting ready for some first-class, first-person perspective on what should prove to be a much better season for our beloved Irish. Should be. BackPost new commentMan, I'm sorry, but we gotta have you log in. That's so we don't get spammed. Appreciate your understanding. Don't have an account?

The site
This is a great site. I think you should have some of the players from the ERA OF ARA on your site.
Notre Dame Visit
My first visit to the ND campus was in 1993 to see the season opener against Northwestern. Being I am from Pa. I was anxious to see Ron Paulos start his first game there. Needless to say that didn,t happen. But what a show Rice and Burris put on.
I will never forget that experience on that beautiful campus and I will remain a die hard Irish fan forever.
Interview with Jeff Burris
Aaron and Jeff that was a great interview, discussion that brought back a lot of memories from a great season 1993, one where Notre Dame and those great Seniors that year were robbed of a National Title, I still haven't forgiven Boston College for that one myself, but that was a great discussion between two Irish gridiron greats! Keep up the good work and love the site.

coaching changes
I applaud c.w.'s new plans and the hiring of Tenuta, but I still strongly question the Mississippi connection, that is Latino and Mendoza. My Ole Miss friends tell me that Mendoza had a bad rep at Ole Miss for mishandling athletes, and specificly that athletes would leave slower than when they arrived. We certainly can't afford another year without an O-line.
I agree...
...another year without an OL would be hugely detrimental, and unacceptable quite frankly. I think its worth waiting this one out, however, as there have been so many other great decisions/hires Coach Weis has made, it makes a strong argument that he has an eye for identifying talent. As we know, however, it takes more than talent to win...but its a dang good place to start.
Thanks for your input and perspective, and I think you shed some light on a very valid issue.
The "Ole Miss Connection"
I can't believe that all the NFL linemen produced by John Latino and Reuben Mendoza at Ole Miss were slow afoot coming out of college. The email from "Sticker" suggested that they were "slower than when they started". An interesting question! Of course, there is no way to verify those glowing 40 times listed by HS recruits, especially in pre-combine situations.
From my armchair prospective, I do believe that Coach Weis has made some great hires and is a good judge of coaching ability. Keeping Latino and Mendoza amounts to new hires since this might have been the year to change if he was so inclined. He must have concluded that what he had was better than what he could get.
On the other side of the ball, I can't wait to see what develops from the collaboration of Corwin Brown and Jon Tenuta and the addition of some great players coming in and already present on the roster.
Thank you, Aaron, for helping all of deal with our "Irish Fever". Glad you are OK and cranking out the news and insights!
